Your clayo.site subdomain

Every project has a built-in home for its docs: https://yoursubdomain.clayo.site, live from the moment you create the project, HTTPS included.

Choosing a subdomain

You pick the subdomain when you create your project, and it becomes part of every article URL. The rules:

2 to 63 characters
Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens
No leading or trailing hyphen, and no double hyphens
Unique across all of Clayo
Names Clayo needs for itself are reserved, for example www, api, app, admin, and cdn

Short and literal works best: your product's name, not a slogan.

Changing it

Owners and admins can change the subdomain in Settings, under General.

Changing your subdomain breaks existing links immediately. The old subdomain is released and does not redirect to the new one. If you need to change it, do it early, before the address is shared and indexed.

This is different from changing an article's slug, which always keeps old links working. See Links, slugs, and redirects.

When another address takes over

The subdomain never goes away, but it stops being the canonical address once you connect a custom domain or set up subpath hosting. From then on:

Visits to the subdomain permanently redirect to the canonical address
Links inside your docs, the sitemap, llms.txt, and the URLs your agent reports all use the canonical address

So you can launch on clayo.site today and move to your own domain later without leaving broken links behind.
